Konan noticed that she didn't kiss back

"Are sure something's not wrong? usually when I kiss you, you kiss back"

Konan looked down, he was afraid that she was upset with him

"I'm fine," Emi said, her voice slightly menacing. "Let's just get back to the house..." Her head started to pound as her chest sank. What was that feeling? It sickened her to be feeling it over and over.
After a minute or two of walking, she glanced back at Konan. He looked sad. Why? He was usually all cheery and clingly... Then she looked at the bracelet he gave her. Why did it make her so happy?

Konan went inside the house and up to the bed, he sat on it and took emi out of his pouch, and he quietly talks to her

"Why? Why can't she just say it? I know she feels it too..."

Konans eyes started to water and tears ran down his face

Emi was in another room in the house, the slight smell of dead bodies filling the room. She sat on the floot, knees to her chin. She closed her eyes and the images were perfect in her mind.

Her parents came into the room, mouths moving. The small child looked up at them, smiling. She wondered what her parents wanted. Her father's mouth moved and then more people came in. She regonized them as the other clan members. Then she saw sharp objects in their hands. Despite being 4, the child knew what their intent was. They wanted to do what the clan loved to do, to her. Voice said, "Useless. Damn bitch. Worthless."
No... Why are they doing this? Why to a child that had done no wrong? She was terrified, her body shaking.
Then there was a sudden feeling or warmth. The child found the source to be the others. Why did they have this warmth? She had none... What gave them it, the thought of killing her? Well, she'll just have to take it away...

Then there was a voice, like a small hum. Emi looked around, seeing nothing. She was about to shrug it off but she noticed warmth... Life. No, it was too weak to be life. More voice came along with the first.
"Akane..."
Something shot through her body. Fear. She knew those voices. Images of swords and kunai flashed before her. No... It's impossible! That child died with everyone else.
"Akane..."
Emi covered her ears, trying to block out the noise."Shut up...." her voice whispered.
"Akane... You will pay for what you did, wreached child...!" Father...
"SHUT UP!" she screamed. "AKANE IS DEAD!" Her body was shaking and she was rocking back and forth, as if this was all in her head. The small warmth gathered together around her and she could feel it closing in. Emi paniced, teats gathering in her eyes. "KONAN!!!!" She projected the scream all throughout the house. "KONAN!"

Konan snapped out of his depression and ran to where Emi's vocie was coming from "Emi?! Emi where are you!?" Konan finally found the room and saw her on the floor looking like she was suffering he picked her up slightly placing her in his lap, she felt cold, he rubbed the side of her face with the back of his hand "Come back to me baby, come on Emi" Konan bent his head down and kissed her trying to get a reaction out of her he held both her hands in his.

Tears fell down her pale face. The warmth was closer, almost suffercating. If anymore, Konan might die too. "Get me out... out of the house..." She had to force everything just to say that and it was barely audiable. Her body continued to shake and she started having trouble breathing.

Konan picked her up quickly and they transported out of the house and five miles over, he laid down with her in his lap, he moved his hand over her face again "Are you alright now my love?" Konan kissed her forehead, it was warm, and the color was returning to her face and the rest of her body "What happened back there?"

Emi held on to him tightly as her body continued to shake. "I... I don't know" she said. "They... they wanted revenge..."

Konan smiled down at her, he had his emi back "Revenge for what? what happened?" Konan took a small rag out of his pouch and doused it with cold water and placed it on her forehead "Are you alright? please come back to me my love"

"Akane.... I killed them. But they were there... About to kill me with their malace for me..." She continued to hold on to him. He didn't have warmth of life like everyone else... But he was alive. His soul comforted her. She wanted to keep it with her. "But they were going to kill me first..."

Konan was confused by her words but he still smiled at her showing his full love for her, his soul felt complete when he was near her, when they were apart he felt cold. lifeless, but not when he was with or even around her

"I know you don't understand why, but i do love you. and I'll do anything to protect you to my dying breath, you are my life now"

Konan wrapped his arms around her and a cool breeze went through the air

"Konan....." The child wanted to believe the words he said, but she remembered what started everything; when she died. "You're not lying... are you?" Emi asked. Her red eyes started up at him; a child wanting to be loved.

Konan helped her to sit up and he stared into her eyes, almost as if he were looking into her soul

"I will never, and have never lied to you. My love."

Konan took the cloth and wrung it of its water onto the soil of the village, he took the canteen back out and held it to her lips

"You should have a drink, I think you're dehydrated"

Emi took a small sip of the cool liquid and then leaned against him. "Just let me sleep," she mumbled. "I just need some rest..." Her eyes closed, but she was smiling ever so slightly.

Konan smiled and kissed her forehead, he was comfortable where he was at, as she clung to him he saw a small smile tug at her lips and he couldn't help but laugh softly to himself

"I think shes starting to let me in"

Konan eventually fell asleep too and took a blanket out from his pack and wrapped them both in it
