No he is not, if you think he cheats for using his sand then Naruto Cheats for using the Fox, Lee cheats for using his gates. The sand is a part of him its a weapon nothing more, Gaara would win hands down, lee doesn't have the speed or the strength to beat him.

Ummmmm, the inability to use nin or gen jutsu is not neceicarily a weakness. It will put you at a disadvantage, yes, but that is why he is trying to prove that you don't need them, but I digress.
Could he do the same thing that Deidara did to Gaara's sand shell? You know, multiple tiny explosions all around, causing it to destableize?

Well Deidara does have those stupid annoying clay bombs, I watched shipudden, how do you think gaara could have avoided that?

ok gaara was in the air and in the ball shield but there was an opening and a bird flew into it and blew gaara up in teh face, he shouldn't have a face anymore

That i don't know it all depends, if you watch the episode again they bomb was really just a very thought out plan, if Gaara didn't let his attention get away and focused just on Deidara and not his town then yes he would've beaten Deidara however because he did lose his focus Deidara expolated that and used it to plant those bombs. For lee to be able to win he would have to open all his gates and beat Garra before the sand has a chance to catch up, the sand itself is pretty fast. |

Still, in shipuuden, i think lee can open up 5 gates, like Guy, and recover unfazed (realatively...) In the 5th gate form, he goes faster than sound. I think he can do some serious damage in that form, contiously hitting Garra with his guard down.

yeah, but that dosen't matter. Gaara, in the chunin exams, was increadably tough, and lee was realatively new to the lotus forms and their effects, that is why gaara won. in shipuuden, though, he is a learned ninja, well aware of lotus' effects. I think he has a WAY better chance in shipuuden than in the Chunin exams.
