*This is a oneshot. My first one I think...So it's not that good. =) But please tell me what you think.^^*
Lily entered a village full of doubt, it had had been so long since she had been here. Now she was finally back, and she wondered why. The Village Hidden In the Sand, it hadn't changed one bit. In fact it seemed like just yesterday, she thought taking a deep breath. She looked down at her necklace and grasped it in her hand tightly as she closed her eyes. Remembering her promise that she had made when she was younger. The necklace was a small hour glass full of sand.
"Gaara are you still here?" She whispered to herself. A wind blew almost as if response to her question. She walked further into the village, taking a slow step each time. Almost hesitant to walk further on, afraid of what she would find. The village seemed peacefully quiet, it was evening. There were few people, and none she recognized. She was glad of that. She sighed heavily, wanting to turn back, thinking this was a big mistake. She walked to an area that was deserted, she stood there not knowing what to do. She closed her eyes and just stood there. She stood there for hours, till night came. As if waiting for something. It was late at night. when a warm breeze blew around her, she opened her eyes to hear a voice say, "You came…."
"Of course I came Gaara, I promised you didn't I?"
"Its been so long, hasn't it?"
"It feels like forever…There wasn't a day that I forgot…I'm surprised you’re here actually…"
"Oh, why is that? I made a promise also didn't I? Do you have that little faith in me?"
"No, of course not Gaara…It's...just that…"
"You thought I would forget? A promise is a promise, even if you want to or not."
Lily felt shocked at these words but at the same time couldn't help but smile. Did he force himself to come today?
"A promise we made when we were young….it's still bona fide?"
"A promise is a promise…"he repeated.
Lily looked at Gaara, so little had changed with him. The same eyes that showed constant struggle. He'd gotten taller…older…that was the only difference. She came closer to him and hugged him while he just stood there.
"Lily?"
"So you haven't forgotten my name Gaara?" she said as she let go of him.
"Forget you? That would be impossible, Lily. Tell me Lily, why is it that after you left, I longed to see you…."
"You missed me Gaara? Is that what you are trying to say?"
"I don't know…..are you leaving me again?"
"Gaara I just came here to complete my promise, I never go back on my word. I really don't understand why you would care anyways…its been so long….."
"Why?….it feels like forever, it feels like the home I've always longed for. How much time has passed since I have seen you?"
"Gaara we both know the answer to that question…its been exactly ten years…." Lily said as she grasped her necklace. She remembered that day, exactly ten years ago. She looked up at the full moon that seemed to light up night just for them. This night seemed like a silent echo of ten years ago. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, she remembered she had left the village ten years ago and as she left Gaara gave her a necklace in form of a an hour glass. He had made it so it kept track of ten years, and promised to each other they would meet each other that one time. The only way they could see each other again. The sand had stopped flowing, the promise was now complete.
"Lily, tell me why you can't stay."
She opened her eyes slowly, she saw Gaara's face full of hurt. That face that she had seen before. she promised herself she would make him happy one day, make him smile.
"I don't want to stay. It's time to move on, I'm sorry Gaara…" She said in a sorrowful voice.
"Don't say sorry when you don't mean it! If I can't have you no one can!' Gaara eyes had changed. He lifted his arm up and surrounded her with sand.
"G-Gaara you know I love you!!" she said aside pain.
"Liar!"
"Gaara stop it, you aren't yourself! You know why I can't stay! I'm doing this for you and only you!!"
"Stop it!"
"Gaara, I don't want to get in your way! You know the only reason, I left was because I was forced too! Do you really think I stopped loving you after I left! That I forgot about you! Never! I made a promise to you and myself! I waited ten years to see you! It's even dangerous for me to be here now! Gaara don't you understand!?"
Her eyes were filled with tears and she felt the sand release her. She fell to the floor, not able to stand up.
"Lily? Are you ok?"
She gave a small smile and forced her self to standup, "Of course Gaara, I'm fine…"
"Lily, why do you have to lie to me…why do I hurt you, when I care about you the most. Why?"
"Its because you care Gaara….I think I have to go now or else-
"Another promise, Lily?"
"What?"
"Ten years from now?"
She smiled. "Of course Gaara…of course…"
Lily was taking by surprise when she was hugged by Gaara. " I love you, Lily… Thank you." He said in a soft whisper so Lily was unsure of the words uttered. He let go of her and turned her necklace around, starting the flow of sand all over again.
"Goodbye, Gaara…"
Gaara disappeared with his sand. Lily was left to walk out of the village alone. She wondered how she would pass by time this time. Another ten years just for one night, seemed like an unfair trade. She knew she couldn’t go back. They both knewand the wait began for ten years all over again.
Ten years seemed like forever
