((My BFF Kemino, who I talk about all the time, has asked me to post her story about her character on here so I am! Please reply feedback so she feels loved ^^))
Why am I here? I thought. More important, how did I get here? The room I was in was small and dark. The furniture was apparently at one point the fanciest of the selection. The paint was falling off the walls, chips of it littering the floor. On the far wall hung a painting of a snake wrapped around an apple. The snake’s eyes met mine with fierce hatred, almost desire. I looked away, turning my attention to the faded couch. I began to think back, back to how I came here . . .
**************************************************************************************
“Kemino!”
Great, he’s here. A boy with bright blonde hair, bright blue eyes and freckles ran toward me, smiling like there’s no tomorrow.
“What do you want?” I ask, letting the annoyance show in my voice.
“Just wanted to talk to you.” He finally caught up with me and had his hands in his pockets while walking beside me.
“About what, Nioke (nee-oak-ee)?” He stopped.
“Well . . . I found out who your new teammates are . . . ”
“Who?” I asked, looking at him for answers.
“Me and Kimara.” Kimara was an odd girl, very violent and very secretive. She had blood red hair and almost everything she wore was black. Me, I had electric blue hair and wore jeans with a black T-shirt and my favorite electric blue high-tops. So you have to deal with her, a voice hissed in my head. Ugh. You again. Can you please leave me alone? I blocked the voice from saying anything more and started walking again.
“Are you ok, Kem?” Nioke asked as he started to follow me again.
“I’m fine. I just have a lot to do at home. I’ll see you later.” I lied. I just really wanted him off my case.
“Ok . . . well, training starts at 8 o’clock tomorrow morning. See you then.” Nioke left, leaving me alone near the village gate.
As I walked home, I thought of how training would go the next day. How would Kimara act to being on my team after what happened....... I banished the thought of that day, the day that will always burn a hole in my memory and my heart. Things have never been the same since then. It was the day when everyone on my team died, except for me. I often blamed myself, even if I had nothing to do with it. I was at home sick. I now wonder if they would have survived if I was there.
I reached my apartment and went inside. I had a ramen bowl and went to bed, dreading what the next day would bring.
I woke up at dawn, cursing the sun and birds for being up so early. I had just fallen asleep after a restless night. While mentally blowing up the birds and sun, I got ready for my first day with my new team. At 7:45, someone knocked at my door.
“Hold on,” I said, putting away my breakfast dishes. I opened the door to find Nioke on the other side.
“Good morning, Kemino!” He said, smiling his unusually bright smile. He was wearing khaki shorts, a blue shirt that matched his eyes and the usual ninja shoes.
“Hi.” I sounded too grumpy for my own good.
“Are you ok?” Nioke asked, looking at me with concern written all over his face. He took a step toward me.
“I’m fine. I just haven’t gotten up this early in a while.” I met his gaze, proving what I had just said. Aw cupcakes! Why does he have to care about me so much? “Well, we better get going before... whose are sensi?’
“I don’t know.”
“Before everyone starts to flip out ‘cause we’re not there.”
I followed Nioke through town till we got to a wooded area. Then, he let me lead. Apparently we’re going to my old training spot. Lovely. When we reached the clearing, Kimara was already there. She glanced at us and then looked away, as if uninterested.
“Hi.” She said this in a way that made me feel like we weren’t going to get along very well. “So you’re the girl who got her team killed. Kemino, right?”
“Well at least I don’t sit around, picking at peoples old wounds.” I let my voice and face fill with disgust.
“Aren’t we defensive? I, at the very least, get over things and get on with my life.” I couldn’t take it anymore. I lunged for her neck, but at the very last minute changed course for her legs. I took her completely by surprise. I think she was expecting me to break down crying, or say something else, not tackle her to the ground.
I quickly sat on her arms and legs, holding a kunai to her throat.
“Just to let you know, I hold severe grudges against people who use my friends to insult me. Now apologize before I really hurt you!”
“Kemino, let her go!” Nioke called behind me, but I payed no attention to him. Kimara smirked. Just smirked. She then threw me off of her and in a second flat, punched me into a tree.
*poof* ‘I’ disappeared in a puff of smoke.
Kimara laughed. It sound like a pack of wolves on a hunt. I shuttered. “Shadow clones! Like I haven’t seen that before!” She continued to laugh for a few minutes. This is when I decided to attach.
“Shadow Snake!” I yelled.
“Holy.....” was all Kimara could let out before the snakes mouth engulfed her. Now it was my turn to laugh. Most people would say that my laugh sounded like the slithering of a snakes, dark and chilling. I stood there and laughed until I got a hefty punch in the back. I turned, coughing up some blood, expecting Kimara. To my surprise it was Nioke. His eyes looked like an oncoming storm. He was no longer smiling.
“You’ve taken this to far, Kemino. Let her out.” His was cracking with anger.
“Why should I?” I was surprised to hear so much hatred in my voice. That’s right, don’t let him ruin our fun. The voice was back and even stronger than before. Let me help you. I felt my chakara rise to new levels.
“Holy cupcakes!” I yelled, barely able to here myself over the whooshing chakra from my body. I felt free and at the same time like it wasn’t me who was in charge of my body. “Let's make this quick, boy!”
“Kemino! How could you let this happen! You should be more careful!” Nioke screamed this at me, punching me at the same time.
A woman in her early twenties jumped in between Nioke and me. She had straight blonde hair with only one side put up. She had a freckled face with squinty blue-green eyes.
“Ok cupcake, who are you supposed to be?” I asked, the shock of her arrival returning me to normal. Nioke automatically returned to his smiley state.
“First of all, if I was a cupcake I would have eaten myself by now. Secondly, I am your new sensi, Mia Mota.” This insane chick is our new sensi?!
“How come your headband says waterfall?” Kimara asked. I forgot that the shadow snake had disappeared when I lost all my visible chakara.
“Well look at yourselves. One sand/sound, one sand/mist and one mist. Interesting group, aren’t we?” Mia Mota seemed to be of a bubbly nature. Hip-hip-hooray! “You must be Kimara over there and you two are Kemino and Nioke, right?”
“Yes. Nice to meet you, Mia Mota-sensi.” Nioke said, smiling at her. I walked away and started trying to kill a tree. Mia Mota popped up behind me.
“Eager to get started, are we?”
“Maybe” I say, throwing 5 kunai, each hitting, if the tree was a person, vital parts.
“Nice aim.”
“Whatever.”
“Ok then, lets get started,” Mia Mota turned to the others. “Ummm, how `bout we play tag?”
“Aren’t we too old for tag?” I asked, turning towards my team. Mia Mota smiled.
“Well in this version, you have to try to avoid me and try to successfully disable my traps in a certain amount of time.” Omg! It’s tag on steroids! “You have 10 minutes to disable 5 traps. Work together and good luck!”
All of us ran off, looking for the first trap. We did this for the rest of the day. Decreasing time, increasing traps. The next day, however, we were in for quite a surprise.
